Khelo India University Games to begin in Odisha

On 22 February 2020, the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Cuttack will begin the first-ever India University Games in Odisha. The multi-disciplinary sports competition will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The game will be held from 22 February to 1 March 2020 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Launching team:
Khelo India University Games will be launched by Government of India in partnership with Odisha State Government.

an objective:
The move aims to make Khelo India University Games an aspirational competition for the youth of India to help in balancing between sports and education.

Khelo India University Games:
- Khelo India University Games will be the biggest competition organized at the university level in India.
- More than 3500 athletes from more than 150 universities across India will participate in the Games.
- Total 17 seventeen sports namely swimming, weightlifting, wrestling, badminton, archery, athletics, boxing, fencing, judo, basketball, football, hockey, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, rugby, and kabaddi.

Games India Program:
The Khelo India program was launched to revive the sports culture at the grassroots level in India. The objective of the program is to create a strong framework for all the sports played in the country and to establish India as a great sports nation. The Government of India successfully organized the Games India School Games in 2018 and the National Youth Games in 2019 and 2020.
